WhatsApp is working on attaching a number of new features to its platform. Last week’s details about WhatsApp’s disappearing messages feature surfaced online.
Primary reports indicated that the Facebook-owned social messaging app allowed two-time limits — 5 seconds and 1 hour – to users as a timer for their disappearing messages. Now, the company has added more options to the feature.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the blog that reported the setting first, WhatsApp has added four new options to the feature. The disappearing messages now come with an on/off switch in group chats.
This indicates that users can either set a particular limit for their chats or turn off the feature complete. This means that they can also selectively turn on the feature when they wish to share some sensitive information within a group chat.
The disappearing messages feature, aside from offering 5 seconds and 1 hour in timer settings, offers Off 1 day, 7 days and 30 days in timer settings. This feature is yet in development and hence isn’t available to anyone yet.
Apart from the disappearing messages feature, WhatsApp is also working on figuring a dark theme on its Android-based app – a feature that was in news earlier this year.
Now a new report by the blog site intimates that WhatsApp is closer than ever in terms of implementing the dark theme in its Android app.
As per the report, WhatsApp will offer a dark theme following the new Themes section in the Settings menu. Upon opening the section, the popular social messaging app will offer three options to WhatsApp users.
The White Theme is the usual light theme that we all are accustomed to across the years. The Dark Theme is the feature that we all have been waiting for. As per the report, WhatsApp will adopt blue night colours on opting for this option.
The third option is the System Default option which dynamically adapts to your phone’s system-wide dark theme. This option is particularly useful if you have a smartphone running on Android 10, which brings in native support for dark mode on Android devices.
The Dark Theme, on the other hand, is more suitable on Andriod devices running on Android 9.0 Pie or older versions of Android OS that don’t support a system-wide dark theme.
