How often you post on Instagram can affect your success on the app. If you post too much, you oversaturate your audience; If you post too little, you can lose followers (marketers say this is the number one reason you lose followers).
Since your audience wants to hear from you on the platform, creating a posting schedule that satisfies this desire is essential. Next, we tell you how often your company should post on Instagram.
How often should a business post on Instagram?
During Instagram’s Creator Weekend 2021, Adam Mossieri (Head of Instagram) was asked about the ideal number of posts businesses should make to be successful on the app. He said there was no set formula, but an ideal strategy is to share a couple of weekly feed posts and stories per day.
A recent HubSpot survey asked the same question, and here are the responses collected from over 500 global B2B and B2C Instagram marketers:
Overall, 80% of marketers post to their feeds in their roles. When they publish,
- 45% publish several times a week.
- 23% publish several times a day.
- 23% publish once a day.
The survey also asked marketers how often they post to Stories; 43% post several times a week, 23% post several times a day, and 23% post daily. Marketers also say that the ideal number of posts to have at one time is 4 to 9.
How to know the best posting frequency for Instagram
Discovering the best posting frequency for your brand or business on Instagram means leveraging knowledge and experimenting, as your followers will let you know what works.
For example, suppose engagement tends to decline after a certain number of posts per week. In that case, your followers tell you you may be posting too much.
You should also take into account when your followers are most active. If you post when your most engaged audience is asleep, it doesn’t matter if you post ten times a week because they won’t see it. Be online and ready to participate when you try to contact them.
Create a publishing schedule and use your insights and analysis to see what works and what doesn’t. Once you’ve figured out the perfect number of posts, you can stick to it week by week by scheduling your content.
