Essential Techniques to Improve Off-Page SEO

Did you know that external positioning factors, those that you cannot control directly on your page, are the ones that most influence your SEO ranking? These factors are included in what is known as Off-page SEO, and in this article, we want to give you ten tips that you can apply to your SEO strategy to improve them. Although many techniques we tell you are related to link building, specifically with achieving incoming links, you will also find other types.

But be careful! With this, we do not want to tell you to leave aside On-page SEO since working on both aspects is essential.

1. Write articles on third-party websites to improve your Off-page SEO

Also known as Guest Blogging, this practice consists of writing articles for other websites in the same niche as yours but more popular and with greater authority. In addition to adding your name, that of your company or that of a team member as the author of the article, the name of the business website and a link to it are usually also included in this section. Sometimes, if the website you are collaborating with allows it, you can add a link to your website in the article’s content.

2. Share links to your website on social networks

Social networks are also perfect for sharing links to your website, whether in your Instagram stories or profile bio. Even through influencer marketing, you can make other well-known accounts with a great reach and link to your website.

And Google also considers social networks when giving authority to a web address.

3. Practice link reciprocity

You can reach agreements with websites in your sector so that they link to your website in exchange for you also linking to theirs. Although they do not work as well as non-reciprocal links when it comes to positioning in Google, they are an option you can consider.

On the other hand, it is a practice usually done between brands with the same level of authority.

4. Pay for promotional items

It consists of paying well-positioned websites in your sector with high authority or written media with an online presence to write articles about your brands and their products or services, including links to your website.

5. Comment on forums and blogs in your niche

This is a good technique as long as you refrain from commenting to add the link to your website, as this will cause the forum or blog creators to block you, as they are familiar with this tactic.

To practice this well, I recommend you accompany your links with valuable content, write on blogs and forums related to your topic, and use your brand’s name as a username to comment. Many forums and blogs allow you to add a web page in the contact information section.

6. Do link building with broken links

A broken link directs to a web page that no longer exists or that cannot be consulted for various reasons. In these cases, a “404 error” or “page not found” message is displayed when clicking on the link.

You can search broken links on pages in your niche and contact the owner to replace them with links to your website. Some of your links may also be damaged, so check them periodically.

7. Organize events to make people talk about you

Link-building aside, you can also do other things to increase your authority and encourage users to search for you on Google. Organizing an event is an option, and cases such as The Evening of the Year or the Idol Awards are good examples.

8. Work your reviews on different platforms

Having good reviews is another way to improve your Off-page SEO. Most users consult online reviews before making a purchase, so if you have a good reputation, online searches for your brand will increase.

You can encourage users to leave their opinions about your brand on platforms like Google or TrustPilot to get good reviews.

9. Create and optimize your company profile on Google

A company profile on Google, especially if you have a local business, will help you improve your presence in search engines.

10. Practice content syndication

Content syndication consists of publishing content already published on a web page on another portal (generally on the author’s website). On the new website, all credits are given to the author, and a link is added to the original publication, thus allowing link-building to continue.
