Google Assistant’s regular snapshot feature gets birthday reminders

Snapshot feature: Google is developing its “Snapshot” feature in Assistant, combining new notes reminders and more proactive approaches for new activities you may need to try.

The first version of Snapshot revealed information like your regular commute time, upcoming schedule, reminders, upcoming flights, recent online orders, and stock market updates.

Google is continuing to that list with further reminders for things like future birthdays or holidays, too.

The renewed Snapshot view will also develop its recommendations where the app would before suggesting YouTube videos or Spotify songs, the updated version will use your current user data to offer new recipe ideas, podcasts, or restaurants to order from.

Those recommendations will update over your day, too, just like the rest of the snapshot feature mode so you won’t get breakfast recipe ideas at dinner time.

To get Snapshot more useful, Google is combining a new way to reach it: now, you can pick up the view at any time in the Assistant app by speaking “Hey Google, show me my day,” in interest to hitting the Snapshot button within the app.

(The voice control feature is only available for customers with English as their default language, but it will roll out for more languages in the future.)

Lastly, Google is appending birthday reminders to the Google Assistant’s notification options. If it’s one of your contacts’ birthdays, Assistant can send you an alarm, bringing you straight to an action card where you can call, text, or sing “a personalized birthday song.”

The latest Google Assistant features are available presently in the Assistant app on iOS and Android.
