Google Meet free version only lets users host meetings for 60 minutes

Google Meet has stated that the free version of the app will only allow users to host meetings for 60 minutes and not more than that.

However, this new control would only be relevant from September 30. Along with the cap on meetings, Google will also restrict access to some of the advanced G-Suite features such as providing over 250 participants, live streaming, and saving meeting recordings to Google Drive, The Verge report stated.

“We don’t have anything to communicate about changes to the promo and advanced features expiring. If this changes, we’ll be certain to let you know.” Google told The Verge.

However, the users who do not require an upgrade to the paid version can stay using the free version, albeit with a limit on the connections. It would not be challenging to decide on a meeting in 60 minutes if the user is not able to pay for more sessions.

Google Meet and other video conferencing platforms like Zoom have been on massive demand during the coronavirus pandemic. Google Meet and Zoom have crossed the 100 million mark in the duration of daily participants.

Earlier, Google had started a new feature in its Meet app where users can see up to 49 people at once. The 49 people see can be allowed in Tiled and Auto layouts. This feature is, though, available on the web.
