In this article, we will guide you on how to use WhatsApp’s multi-device feature. Many users have long waited for this feature as it allows you to use WhatsApp on multiple devices simultaneously without logging out of any device.
It is important to note that the feature is gradually rolling out to all users. Therefore, some users may gain access before others. The rollout may take several days or even weeks to reach everyone.
What is the multi-device mode in WhatsApp?
Multi-device mode is a feature that allows users to use WhatsApp on up to four mobile devices simultaneously without losing end-to-end encryption. Previously, if a user wanted to use WhatsApp on two mobile devices, he had to log out of the first device while logging in on the second device. Now, the user can have WhatsApp on multiple mobile devices simultaneously.
The multi-device feature works similarly to WhatsApp Web. It is necessary to keep the main device active; otherwise, if it is inactive for 15 days, WhatsApp will close on all devices. This is done to prevent third parties from accessing the account.
How to pair a new device
To pair a new device, you need to open the WhatsApp app on the primary device and open the app on the second device. Select “Accept and continue” on the main screen to log in. There is no need to enter the phone number, as this would make the second device the primary one and log you out of the first one. Instead, you must select the three dots in the upper right corner and click on “Pair device” if the function is already activated.
This will generate a QR code on the second device’s screen. From the main device, go to the “Link device” option in the “Linked devices” section in WhatsApp settings. Use the app’s camera to point at the second device’s QR code and pair the devices. Repeat the process to pair up to four devices in total.
