Nintendo Switch 2: Rumours Claim Switch 2 Arriving in 2025

Nintendo Switch 2: It’s an open secret that the next generation of Nintendo’s console , the one we now know as Switch 2, is closer than far away. And of course, despite the Japanese company’s secrecy, leaks are once again arriving one after the other. Now we have new leaks about the new Switch, some very well received, and others not so much because, according to some, they seem more like a  downgrade from the current console.

At this point, after months of talk about the Switch 2 (although we insist, Super Switch seems a more likely name), almost everything seems pretty much tied up. However, a new set of leaks have caused a bit of anxiety among the Nintendo community, as some of the updates seem to have been less than popular.

Leaks About the Nintendo Switch 2 [2025]

There are some details that we could consider minor, such as larger buttons, a redesigned dock and three different colours for the launch. But there are other details that are more important, such as the hall effect joysticks, something that is a huge improvement for everyone because we can forget about  drift on them, or one of the things that has not been liked as much, such as the fact that initially the base model will have an LCD screen and not an OLED. This, of course, is what players have liked the least.

And honestly, it wouldn’t make much sense. The original Switch has an LCD screen , but Nintendo has already updated it to the far superior OLED model, so seeing a Switch 2 with an LCD screen certainly seems like a change for the worse, as the community is expressing on social media.

The hall effect joysticks, on the other hand, seem like a much-needed improvement, and this has been welcomed with open arms by the community. However, despite this, the joysticks do suffer from some wear and tear with use, like all moving parts in any device, so we’ll have to see how Nintendo solves this it would be easy with a tool that allows you to calibrate the joysticks via software, but with Nintendo you never know.

As for the slightly larger buttons, that’s also a welcome change for most, as it’s true that if you compare the buttons on the current Switch to those on the PlayStation or Xbox controllers, they do look quite small. The controls have always been a criticism of the current model, to be honest. In a later post, the leaker also uploaded supposed leaked images of the Switch 2 like this one you can see above, with a casing that shows the shape of the console and that adds a stand to keep it vertical.

Finally, the leaker also talks about the technical specifications well, sort of. He claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a bit lighter than the Steam Deck, and even claims that its launch will be announced next month, in January 2025, although frankly we see it as quite unlikely that this will happen if we follow the Japanese company’s approach. As for its specifications, as already mentioned, it will have an LCD screen, which has been the great disappointment of these new leaks, since everyone expected the screen to be OLED.
