WhatsApp operates on a new feature that will transcribe voice messages for users so they don’t have to hear audio messages. This will be especially useful if you require to sneakily listen to a voice message at a moment when you require to be super calm.
The feature was first found by WABetaInfo and is currently under development. Moreover, the website notes that will do transcription will do transcription regionally on the user’s phone.
WABetaInfo Tweeted: (100k followers for WABetaInfo today. I never imagine a similar result, thank you. To celebrate this event, I want to announce the best news: WhatsApp is working on voice message transcription!)
So Facebook will not have entrance to the audio recordings. However, the transcription will be used by Apple to improve its speech recognition technology and is voluntary.
Will reserve the transcribed messages locally so you can obtain them any time in the future without transcribing the message repeatedly. WhatsApp users can also skip to a particular timestamp if they don’t demand transcription for the entire message.
Currently, the feature is improving for iOS users, and there is no information on if or when the feature will be possible for Android users.
Though, WhatsApp has a clean track record of delivering major features to both iOS and Android to view some answers for Android users in the future.
WhatsApp is supposed to roll out the feature to iOS beta users shortly. For now, there is no information on when the feature will commence rolling out to WhatsApp for iOS users.
